December 25th used to be a pagan celebration of the sun coming - TopicsExpress

December 25th used to be a pagan celebration of the sun coming back to life but was adopted by the Christians at later times as a celebration of the birth of Christ which is not.In fact, in the Bible itself of the psalms book it says do not decorate a tree or put presents under it as those were the way of the pagan (a Christian actually told me that). Xmas has become a majority cultural thing not a religious thing anymore. I mean hindus and atheists even celebrate it here in the states. But on the other hand living in a Christian dominated country, we as Muslims should be respectful of their practices. Xmas is everywhere and unavoidable and actually considered rude to your fellow man for not wishing a happy holiday. I am not saying that Muslims need to celebrate it or put a tree, but nothing is wrong with walking in the park or the mall that has xmas decorations and admiring the creativity. Donating to santa with the red bell and bucket to help humanity. Saying happy holidays just because you know they celebrate it just as a non muslim would wish us a happy Ramadan or Eid.
