Design/Project Engineer Our client is an established Cambridge (UK), bespoke engineering and automation business to handling innovation, system design & manufacture, sales & marketing and delivery of special purpose machinery. Our client also provides consultancy, prototypes, technology demonstrators, bench top test units through to fully automated production machines. Having supplied over 1000 bespoke engineering solutions our client is regarded as industry experts with an innovative approach, and are well placed to serve the pharmaceutical, medical device, electronic and other technology driven markets. The Role: You will be a practical, hands on and innovative engineer with a genuine interest in machines and how they work. Working in a multi-disciplinary team, emphasis will be on providing accurate, reliable, cost effective solutions to our customers. You will assist Senior Engineers with the responsibility for the full life cycle of products from concept design, detailing, procurement, manufacture, build, test, commission and installation. Help manage the day-to-day operations, objectives and budgets. Typical Work Activities Include: Preparing and monitoring project schedules Designing systems and products using 3D CAD (Solidworks) Monitoring, reviewing and coordinating project design and construction Negotiating contracts, amendments and change orders Reading design specifications and technical drawings Researching suitable solutions and estimating costs and timescales Developing test rigs, models and prototype equipment Working to BS and EN standards, Machinery Directive and CE regulations Liaising with others in the design team, clients and contractors Attending meetings onsite Testing and qualifying the final product or system Preparing product documentation, writing reports and giving demonstrations/presentations Monitoring a product in use to improve on future design Procuring parts and managing budgets
