Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) in association with Asian Paints, IRCON and Marico Bangladesh is organising an Evening of Nazrul Geeti by legendary singer of Bangladesh, Dr. Nashid Kamal at 6:30 PM on October 18, 2014, at the IGCC, House No. 35, Road No. 24, Gulshan-1. Dr. Nashid Kamal, granddaughter of legendary musician Abbasuddin Ahmed, trained under music legends like Ustad P.C Gomes, Ustad Akther Shadmani, Ustad Quader Zameeree and Pandit Jasraj of India. She has been an outstanding exponent of Nazrul Geeti, semi-classical and folk music and Urdu ghazals in Bangladesh for over four decades. Dr. Nashid Kamal presents a versatile repertoire of musical presentations and has ten CDs to her credit comprising of Nazrul, folk and Urdu ghazals. She has also sung in several foreign languages such as Japanese, Chinese, Rumanian, Turkish etc. She is a regular performer in the Tara music channel of Kolkata and has won Nazrul Award from Nazrul Academy in 2009. She visited New Delhi, Guwahati and Kolkata in India for performances under ICCR sponsorship in September 2011.
