Determinism is a concept that believes that when it comes to a series of events happening one after the other, any present state (of an object or thing) is determined by the previous states. Determinism is a philosophical concept that emphasizes the fact that every human behaviour, decision or even action is determined causally by past events. When it comes to human action, determinism is contrasted with “free will”. Jawaharlal Nehru had once remarked, “Life is like a game of cards. The hand you are dealt is determinism; the way you play it is free will.” The concept of indeterminism opposes this theory.
