Diabetes mellitus is metabolic disorder characterized by high blood sugar levels. The main symptoms include frequent urination, increased thirst and hunger. Untreated, diabetes can cause many complications; some of them are heart disease, stroke, blindness, kidney failure and poor circulation of limbs (that can lead to amputations). There are three main types of diabetes mellitus: type 1 DM, type 2 DM and gestational diabetes, which occurs in pregnancy. 90% of patients have type 2 DM and nowadays it is affecting approximately 366 million people worldwide. Type 2 diabetes can be cured by simple changing of life style and habits and a healthy life is the most important in preventing this disease. When we eat, sugar goes into the bloodstream and that leads to insulin secretion from the pancreas. Main function of insulin hormone is to transport sugar from the blood to the cells. In type 2 diabetes, the main problem is not a deficiency of insulin, but insulin resistance. That is a condition where cells fail to use insulin properly and sugar can not enter the cells. There are a number of risk factors for type 2 diabetes, including genetic predisposition, obesity, lack of physical activity, poor diet and stress. Exercise and a proper diet (low glycemic index diet, food rich with monounsaturated fat ) are essential in preventing diabetes. Aerobic exercise improves insulin sensitivity, resistance training is also useful and the combination of both types of exercise may be most effective. It is recommended at least 150 minutes a week of moderate aerobic activity or 90 minutes a week of strong physical activity, to be spread out over at least 3 days a week. Strength and endurance training should be carried out for more than 4 weeks to reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications. For the maintenance of body weight after weight loss person should train at least 7 hours a week. Anaerobic training is recommended 3 times a week, at least 3 sets with 8-10 repetitions. #Exercise #Diabetes #GetResults #PowertecFitness #PF
