Did Jay-Z actually stab Lance Rivera back in December 1999? Ive read two books on him including his unique memoir Decoded and both suggest it did happen. Rivera has since claimed that the stabbing was staged by the two to generate publicity ahead of The Life And Times Of S. Carters release. That would have been unbelievably dumb if this ever turned out to be true. I think it was legit but Jay-Z has since expressed remorse and moved on. But again, absolutely stupid if it was staged. How ironic is it that Rivera actually produced Dopeman where Jay-Z is put on trial and acquitted? Thats pretty freaky. He did get probation for the incident in 2001 and has not spent a single day in prison despite being a drug dealer in the past. Money does strange things I guess.
