Discussion Homework assignment done. The topic we had to speak about was the growth of todays government, womens rights and how things changed. This was my post: Today the constitutional development is still as weak as it was back in the 1780s. Taxes are still high and Americans have to pay for it one way or another. As far as debt goes, America is still in debt in the billions. We keep borrowing money that is not their. Womens rights has came a long way. Today some of the most powerful executives are women and also have an equal chance as men. Womens rights movement have been very successful. Thomas Jefferson said that all men are equal. That did not go for slave and women. Judith Sargent Murray made a strong effort in 1848 at the Seneca Falls Convention. Once the Declaration of Sentiments was created, things changed. Today you have powerful women such as Annis Parker, Oprah Winfrey etc who have a voice and are wealthy because of their work ethic. As far as the foreign policy goes, the Monroe Doctrine was an issue in the interference of affairs in the western hemisphere. George Washington stepped in to make sure that America would not get involved in the war between France and Great Britain. Today that does not exist because America still interferes in situations internationally. The United states was a imperial power who some what bullied their way into situations. The goal was to keep the relationships and resources they needed.
