Discussion point: In some cultures a lot of us prefer to marry someone with “fair/light skin”! What if we want to marry someone who is pious but our parents refuse just because he or she isn’t light skinned/ fair? Surely our spouse’s Deen and Character should be of more importance yet we are completely blinded by colour? Just WHAT is it that makes the skin colour such an obsession? *** (I understand that there will be those of you who will mentioned the ‘personal preference issue’ and that is allowed since some prefer the darker skin, however putting that aside we need to acknowledge that the skin colour issue is a major problem and discrimination in some societies and is not from our Deen.) ~Umm Adam (Admin)
