Does anyone really understand what Ferguson, Mo. is like? I was - TopicsExpress

Does anyone really understand what Ferguson, Mo. is like? I was within a mile of it last week for the NANPA Board meeting. Its a small suburb in St. Louis just one mile from the airport. The area is kind of sketchy - not a place you would readily visit but nothing like East St. Louis. The idea that it is a town with its own police force of 50 officers is odd. They only have a population of 21,000 people - down 25% since 1970 in spite of having a very good airport and Boeing nearby. This is a town that should be merged into the larger St. Louis city/county government. The police force should be more racially diverse, but they will never find many candidates in the city of Ferguson if you want professional police officers. You wont find journalists, store owners, educators, or anyone else in large numbers in the town.
