Doing well does not mean that everything turns out to be like we thought it might. There are too many contributors to every circumstance to anticipate specific outcome, except in the principle of well doing. To do well is to choose the right, to take a step in the right direction. And, even when things dont go what we might consider to be right, faith and obedience are still the right choice, especially when things are going wrong. Simple as it is to say, there is a profound principle and purpose in taking a step in the right direction. A step in the right direction...is a step...and it is in the right direction! In the end, wherever and whenever that is, our life is the sum of the steps that we take. While the darkness of this world may be trying to rob us of our progress we must never partner with it. Christ showed that victory is attainable and when He left it sent the Holy Ghost to comfort and guide us in this difficult journey. Find the voice of the Holy Ghost and you will never be alone or without direction.
