Doll Face Doll Face is doing just fine. John took very good - TopicsExpress

Doll Face Doll Face is doing just fine. John took very good care of her. When we got back to Camp Tumalo today Julia dove out of her car and sped into the shed, with Kyle hard on her heels. I wasnt far behind them, and only because I had to jump over a puddle. Doll Face was very glad to see us. She was sitting fully upright, not on one side to avoid the hurt leg, and she was trying to use it. She didnt have much success yet, but she is definitely ambitious, and she was also bracing with a wing. Kyle fed her cracked corn by hand, we all petted her, and she burked at all of us while we cooed to her. I am told that my fluency in the hen language is coming along well. I have decided, on reflection, to leave her where she is for now. Renovations to Camp Tumalo in the next ten days or so will involve sawing, painting, ripping up and installing floors, plumbing, and other activities that will render the place uninhabitable. I dont want to move her and then have to do it again, and I definitely do not want her to be frightened. So for now she will stay where she is, under her heat lamp in a sturdy lighted and secure shed, in a deeply bedded cage surrounded by various goodies and lots of fresh, clean water. John, Josh and Dustin put their talents to good use tonight by assembling a drop-leaf table and chairs, after Dustin prepared another of his gustatory delights for dinner. He is getting pressured by both Julia and I to give us recipes to post, and he keeps saying, I will, I will. Nothing yet. We are starting to wonder if he will be one of those chefs who guards his secrets with the ferocity of a master alchemist. We are juggling Buddy and Talili with Will and Brooke, which is interesting in a small dwelling with only a tiny fenced area. Two dogs are always in my bedroom, with two having the run of the place, and they take turns outside. They arent too pleased with this situation, but the big outdoor run is under construction and then they will have as much running room as they do in their kennel on Cinnamon Ridge. And, yes...in answer to many questions...I definitely am at work on another Mystic Creek novel.
