Domestic Violence and Abuse #16Days of Action - Day 12 Coercion, control and emotional abuse It’s not always easy to tell at the beginning of a relationship if it will become abusive. Possessive and controlling behaviours don’t always appear straight away but can emerge and intensify as the relationship grows. Domestic violence doesn’t look the same in every relationship because every relationship is different. But one thing most abusive relationships have in common is that the abusive partner does many different kinds of things to have more power and control over their partners. If you’re beginning to feel as if your partner or a friend or relative’s partner is becoming abusive, there are a few behaviours that you can look out for. ow.ly/F9oAJ Please dont accept domestic violence and abuse, contact the police on 101 or 999 for help and support or contact National Domestic Violence Helpline on 0808 2000 247 (free phone and open 24/7)
