Draft Day (I) (2014) Rated PG-13 - 109 min imdb/title/tt2223990/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 Humor. Drama. Romance. Predictable. Formulaic. Somewhat cute & entertaining. Happy ending. Yep, another Costner movie (just a hint of action, and no killing). Draft Day is both the title and backdrop for this story. Set in Cleveland on the NFL’s single most dramatic, non-game day. The film centers around the life of the Browns’s General Manager and how he handles one life-changing event after another, while making one draft deal after another. We get a peak into the natural drama and high power deals made before and during the actual televised Draft. Sadly the story is pure Hollywood. Anyone can instantly tell that the NFL was behind the making of this movie. Cameos from some of the best current and past players and coaches in the NFL appear regularly throughout the film. Even the actual Commissioner of the NFL, Roger Goodell. It acts as a one hour and forty-nine minute PR film for the positive side of the NFL and its players, coaches, and ownership. But all that does not mean it’s a bad movie. Just more of what I’d call a RENTER. Though today, I suppose the term is stream-it. Directed by Ivan Reitman. Staring Kevin Costner, Jennifer Garner, Denis Leary, with Puff/P-Diddy, A good movie. Fun. But don’t expect too much. Cheers! TCS
