Driving pass a congested road, saw a 50+ old man fell off from his motorcycle 50m away from me. I think it happened when he tried to avoid another motorcyclist. He tried very hard to stand up but the heavy motorcycle on him gave him pretty hard time. Everything in his basket scattered on the road. Many car drivers and motorcyclists just slowed down and drove by. Seeing this, a foreign worker stopped his motorcycle and helped the old man to carry the motorcycle. I stopped by the roadside and helped him to pick up his belongings. Then I saw the motorcyclist the old man tried to avoid drove back and scold the old man for dangerous driving, cursing him for his recklessness. He also asked the old man not to drag others into accident..... The foreign worker kept quiet and held the motorcycle for the old man until he regained strength. I asked the old man if he was injured and he just kept saying bo shu, bo shu (nothing serious). The motorcyclist keep scolding non stop and blaming the old man.... After a while everyone just drove off as if nothing happened. It hurts me to see people just drove by when things happens. It hurts me to see people scold others when others are in pains. It hurts me to see empathy is not a norm. However, It warms my heart to see a foreign worker who doesnt share our common language give me a glimpse of hope in humanity. Malaysia, di sini lahirnya sebuah cinta. I love the theme of 2014 National Day very much. So, to all the teachers, parents or anybody out there, educate our next generation how to empathize and love. Love should be universal and unconditional. And yes, this is going to be my induction set for my lessons tomorrow.
