Duck Race. Now that An Sruthán is all tidied up we’re going to bring back the very popular duck race for August weekend. The brilliant job that Bernie Stilwell and his team did over the winter with the poles have streamlined the water flow and all that remains to be done is to tie back the overhanging water cress. Such is the speed its growing at its much too soon to do that yet. The lines of herbs and vegetables sown and cared for by Mary Hennessy and her team are doing great on the path side bank and the flowers and shrubs on the far bank are in full bloom. If you haven’t been down there this summer, give yourself a treat. It really is a ‘WOW’. And I’m delighted to say that many people are actually using the herbs. It’s lovely to see people strolling along and picking a few leaves here and there. And, Des Fitzgerald, whose brainchild the community herb garden was, has come back with another list of suggestions for next year and following!!
