During my tenure with the NYC Transit Police and the NYPD (1990-2013) more than 130 members of the NYPD (men and women, all colors & races) died protecting the people of New York City. Two more were lost in 2014. Gunfire, assault, heart attack, vehicle accident, fire, 9/11, 9/11 related illnesses...the list goes on. They cant breathe. Every time the mayor of NYC speaks about the dangers the members of the NYPD pose to citizens, he denigrates the memory, service and ultimate sacrifice of each one of these heroes.
