During the night, I had a dream. In the dream, I was in a situation with another person that was very variable and unsteady. I kept trying to adjust anything and everything I was doing to make the situation better. It would look like it was going a little bit better, and then something would happen that seemed to make it a little worse. Back and forth, back and forth, until at the end, the circumstances seemed to be getting outrageously worse. Then, at the end of the dream, I found myself singing with many other unknown voices, Rock of ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in thee... As I think about the dream, it reminds me that Jesus Christ is the only solid Rock to put all of our faith and hope in, whether it is in salvation, or whether it is in important situations in our lives. God is the only One who is always trustworthy, immovable, steadfast, and unchanging. All my trust and hope is in Him: Rock of ages, cleft for me let me hide myself in thee; let the water and the blood, from thy wounded side which flowed, be of sin the double cure; save from wrath and make me pure. Not the labors of my hands can fulfill thy laws commands; could my zeal no respite know, could my tears forever flow, all for sin could not atone; thou must save, and thou alone. Nothing in my hand I bring, simply to the cross I cling; naked, come to thee for dress; helpless, look to thee for grace; foul, I to the fountain fly; wash me, Savior, or I die. While I draw this fleeting breath, when mine eyes shall close in death, when I soar to worlds unknown, see thee on thy judgment throne, Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in thee.
