Erich Thompson and the Stone Cold Cowboys are a six piece country band that is capable of playing slow heartfelt ballads or rocking the house with a mixture of yesterday and todays hard driving country. They began their journey after Erich Thompson grew tired of singing to karaoke tracks and and playing solo acoustic shows. He stumbled across a country band named Hog Wild that was ready to revive themselves and pick up again after a hiatus. In 2002 It was apparent that they matched well and soon began to draw large crowds in the Fulton County area and quickly expanding across the entire state. Their shows and crowds began to attract the attention of many people including 97.3 River Country. They were privileged to be the house band for the local Peoria country station for 2 years. Although Erich had opened for John Michael Montgomery as a solo act, ET and the SCC would soon find themselves on larger stages with mega stars such as Jason Aldine Dierks Bentley and Confederate Railroad. They stayed busy year after year playing up to 50 shows a year. This would soon catch up to them and unfortunately the guys decided to call it quits in 2008. All of the guys went their separate directions and some continued on with music and reformed their band called Shotgun Dixie. This took different forms with members leaving in joining over the period of a few years. A few of the guys hadnt picked up their instruments in years, but early this year began to think about the possibility of getting together to see how things might sound. All of the members have become older and wiser and also have gone through difficult times during their time away from each other. There were deaths, divorces, marriages, cancer and births. All of these things together made the guys realize how important life is and to do something you loved while you are still here. They have been working hard for months to try to put together a good show that will include some of their old favorites as well as some songs that are current on the radio right now in 2014.
