ESPZEN J League 2014 (Under 10) Match report written by: Hua Koon Tan (Jonans Dad) YG2k 3 vs 0 GFA Singapore Jonan x 2 Adi X 1 It was a beautiful windy afternoon on the 2nd Match day of the season. Confidence was high in the team but the morale was affected by sickness of a key player. Midfield dynamo Fauzan was down with stomach flu and had to be withdrawn from the starting lineup at the last minute. Nazrul stepped in fit in to replace him at the middle central position partnering Ridwan. Izzy and Aqil formed the defensive partnership with Jason manning the goal. Adi and Nevin operated on the flanks and Travis led the frontline. YG2k started brightly and initiated attacks from both flanks. GFA, organised and compact in defense, caused YG2k problems through their swift counter attacks. The game was tight and the breakthrough came through the right flank. After some tussle at the GFAs penalty area, Ridwan forced a fierce shot through a very tight angle. GFAs keeper made a very good save but the ball bounced off Jonan and he gladly guide the ball back into the net to record his first goal for the U-10 tournament. Second goal was more opportunistic in nature. A back pass to the defender was chased down aggressively by Jonan. Defender, not expecting the chase down, tried to clear the ball in a haste and the ball bounced off hard on Jonan and fly past the keeper into the net. Not the most beautiful and elegant of goals but still counted as one. The third goal , however, was a beauty. YG2k got a free kick at the center area somewhere between the penalty box and the center field. Adi stepped up and curled a powerful kick past a swarm of defenders. The keeper put his hand on the ball but could not parry it away. Final score 3-0. A good win against a strong GFA team.
