EYL International 40 days prayer: January 29th focus: Sweden • Increased unity among evangelicals is a praiseworthy outworking of the continued decline of state-sponsored Christendom and a sign of God’s spirit at work • Sweden has a rich Christian history, with a legacy of revivals (especially in the 19th century), a vigorous Free Church movement and great commitment to missions. • Pray for national spiritual awakening and for the re-evangelization of Sweden • Theological training is a key prayer target. Theology and religious science are taught in 20 state universities and colleges. May pastors are trained there, but these have been influenced by the humanism and liberalism of the prevalent university climate. • Missionary outreach from Sweden, traditionally strong, has declined markedly in recent year across several mission agencies. Pray also for new wave of mission’s vision and workers to come out of Sweden and out of Scandinavia generally. • Youth. This youngest can be accurately described as post –Christian; most are thoroughly secularize and ignorant of biblical truth. The aging population and overall spiritual malaise contribute to a general decline in youth ministries, but new spiritual curiosity is starting to build. Culturally relevant youth- forces ministry is a vital as fever. • Pray for EMERGING YOUNG LEADERS in SWEDEN. You can do more than pray after you have prayed; but you can never do more than pray until you have prayed.
