Emergency Assistance Fund Believe in Allah and His messenger, and spend (in charity) out of the (substance) whereof He has made you heirs. For, those of you who believe and spend (in charity), for them is a great Reward. (57:7) It is with overflowing gratitude for your support of Dar Al-Hijrah URGENT APPEAL, that we again humbly appeal to you for help to sustain eleven of our most critical cases for this month. These cases went through the full intake process. Dar Al-Hijrah Social Services is asking the community to donate generously. We are providing a brief description of the cases in order to preserve the client’s privacy. Case 1: Married couple with 4 kids needs help with security deposit. They are currently living with another family. The father had his income and hours cut and is struggling to support his family. He was able to find a suitable apartment but needs help with the security deposit. Amount needed: $1,000 Case 2: Single sister with no family in the area, has been actively looking for a job with no luck. She has been able to secure a room but needs help with rent for January. Client has sought Dar Al-Hijrah’s aid and has been contributing to our efforts by volunteering in the social services office until she can find employment, as she wishes to help clients like herself in any way she can. Amount needed: $450 Case 3: Client is a mother of two minor children who recently escaped a household categorized as an environment of domestic abuse. Consequently, she has yet to find employment, she has been struggling greatly in providing her rental and utilities payments. After seeking the assistance of the county, she was only able to receive a limited amount of financial and medical assistance for her and her children. This is why she is seeking aid from Dar Al-Hijrah’s emergency rental assistance program. Amount needed: $1,000 Case 4: Client is a married father of 3 children, two of whom are infants. He has been unemployed but is starting a new job in the same career field soon. However, he has been unable to provide for his children for the past 2 months. Naturally, he has also fallen behind on his rental payments and wishes to comply with his landlord’s payment requirements before he faces eviction. Amount needed: $1,000 Case 5: Client is a disabled, divorced woman with no children. She has already exhausted all her external sources of assistance and is now in dire need of financial assistance that will provide her with basic daily needs, including utilities. Amount needed: $100 Case 6: Single mother of 2 children has also taken it upon herself to support her elderly mother. After contracting a serious illness, she was prescribed medication that obstructed her from working, thereby leaving her jobless for 1 month. She has been unable to provide for her 5 family members, who depend on her for all necessities. This client has fallen behind on her rental payments and has sought Dar Al-Hijrah’s assistance after exhausting her external resources, including the county’s aid. Amount needed: $300 Case 7: Married father of three minor children, lost his job due to health issues and exhausted all of his savings. He will be starting a new job by mid January. Rental assistance required in the amount of $1000.00 Case 8: Single mother with three children, has been sick for two months. She will return to work in a couple weeks but for now is one month behind in her rent. This client has sought our aid in helping her repay her landlord’s debt so that she can pay her future rental payments.
