Engineering Project Road Closures and Traffic Alerts June 29 – July 3 The City of Midland Engineering Services Department has the following projects under construction. Road closures and traffic alerts for each project are listed below: Haynes Drive/Ward Street Intersection Drainage Improvements The City of Midland’s Transportation Division has completed the first phase of the drainage improvement project at the Haynes Drive/Ward Street intersection. All traffic control devices will be removed from Haynes Drive and Ward Street the week of July 1, 2013. The second phase of the project will commence at a later date. Lamesa Road Drainage Improvements The City of Midland’s Transportation Division will begin a drainage improvement project at Lamesa Road near the Lamesa Road/Wadley Avenue intersection the week of July 1, 2013. The project will include the removal and replacement of curb and gutter. During the project, the outside north bound lane will be closed during the day. Two-way traffic will be maintained on Lamesa Road and Wadley Avenue at all times, and all properties adjacent to the work zone will remain accessible. Wadley Avenue Pavement Repair The City of Midland’s Transportation Division will begin repairing damaged pavement at Wadley Avenue near the Wadley Avenue/Loop 250 intersection the week of July 1, 2013. During the project, lane closures will be used on Wadley Avenue between Sunburst Drive and Heritage Boulevard. Two-way traffic will be maintained on Wadley Avenue at all times, and all properties adjacent to the work zone will remain accessible. FY 2013 Mill/Overlay Project: Illinois Avenue The contractor working for the City of Midland will continue the Mill/Overlay Project at Illinois Avenue between Big Spring Street and A Street the week of July 1. Lane closures will be used on Illinois Avenue while the contractor adjusts manhole lids and water valve covers to match the new pavement. Collector and residential streets adjacent to Illinois Avenue will be closed for short periods of time; however, all properties adjacent to the work zone will remain accessible. FY 2013 Mill/Overlay: Ohio Avenue The contractor working for the City of Midland will continue the Mill/Overlay Project at Ohio Avenue between Big Spring Street and A Street the week of July 1. Lane closures will be used on Ohio Avenue while the contractor adjusts manhole lids and water valve covers to match the new pavement. Collector and residential streets adjacent to Ohio Avenue will be closed for short periods of time; however, all properties adjacent to the work zone will remain accessible. Curb-side parking will be prohibited during the project. Ward Street Bridge Reconstruction The Contractor working for the City of Midland on the resurfacing of the North alley along Jal Draw between Ward Street and Garfield Street has resumed construction. During construction, access to the alley will be limited.
