Even if you do not like the answer, when The Lord tells you No, and you are unwilling to be faithful and accept that Heavenly Father is in control of the universe and not you, you are in a state of apostasy. These two individuals have made choices to go against the teachings and doctrine of the LDS faith. They have made a willful choice to rebel leaving their lay leaders no other options. They can conform, or they will be asked to remove themselves. No one forces you to become LDS, but if you choose to be LDS you are to accept the doctrine and teachings of the church. Its not a buffet where you can pick and choose what you want to believe.
