Ever wonder why the board enters Executive Session in the middle - TopicsExpress

Ever wonder why the board enters Executive Session in the middle of a meeting? Ever ask yourself why the board had no comment on a question from the audience? Even ponder the reason a motion was voted on unanimously despite obvious discontent from some board members regarding the topic? We can help you get answers to those questions! MCC, in conjunction with the MCSD Board of Education and Town of Marlborough Supervisor Stephen Osborn, has invited New York States resident expert on the subject of open governance to Marlboro to talk to us about these very things. When: July 24, 2014 at 7:00pm Who: Mr. Robert Freeman, Executive Director, NYS Committee on Open Government Where: At the Town of Marlboro Meeting Room in the former Milton Elementary School (seating is limited, please check our events page and let us know if you will be attending so we can plan accordingly!) The Committee on Open Government is responsible for overseeing and advising with regard to the Freedom of Information Law, the Open Meetings Law and the Personal Privacy Protection Law (Public Officers Law, Articles 6, 7 and 6-A respectively). The Committee and the laws it oversees have gained national and international recognition as models for other jurisdictions. Its work and experience have been shared with access professionals at international conferences, and it is represented through membership in the Council on Governmental Ethics Laws and participation on the Media Law Committee of the New York State Bar Association.
