Every year, there will always be this trend in which top students did not receive a place in public universities. Of course these top students who scored straight As in SPM and STPM felt disappointed and quickly demand help from the authorithy, questioning why they are not able to enter public university. Of course, they are not of Malay origin, nor Indian. Question is, is this true? I mean the spot for medicine in public universities in Malaysia is quite limited and I must say tough. Even some top scorer of Malay origin cant get a place for medicine and had to settle for second or third choice. Yes, perhaps there are biasness in the choosing of prospectus students for the respective universities but come on, every year it is always the same thing. Even for MARA itself, 4000 top scorers applied for the scholarship and only 300 were chosen. I didnt see any 3700 top scorers reporting to the news or go to MARA to ask for some explanation of why a top scorer like them cant get the scholarship. Every year there are thousands of top scorers in Malaysia. And every year the result of the public exams, well, increases from the year before. Never a decrease. Either the generation is becoming brighter in which I doubt very much, or there are something wrong somewhere in the system. Like I always said before, grades do not reflect your intelligence. Oh, to the top scorer, medicine is not the only career in life.
