Expressing my thoughts today, hoping that Heaven has access to my Facebook status. December `12, 1948, a young 17 year old girl and a 19 year old boy traveled to York, SC. After standing before the York County Justice of the Peace and exchanging wedding vows, this young couple was pronounced husband and wife- Pleasant William Walter and Amy Beatrice Drye Walter. Yes my parents eloped, as did many young couples back then. Did their parents have a clue this was going to happen? Probably not and Im guessing they would not have approved. On January 7, 1950; Williams and Amys first child (thatd be me) was born. Mom was 18 years old. She turned 19 about six weeks later. Dad was 20.. Mom and dad celebrated 52 years together before my dad passed on January 6, 2001.Their anniversary date passed 3 more times before mom died. Theyve been united again since November 4, 2004 and today; theyre celebrating, in heaven, 66 years of marriage. Dad would be 85 now, mom 83. Happy Anniversary mom and dad, I miss you more and more every day. Im so looking forward to the day well all be reunited. Love you always, Your oldest son (now almost 65), Gary.
