Eye of storm over the Hebrides (From Hebrides News 26/10/13) Gale warnings have been issued for the Hebrides, Minches and west coast of Scotland which will bring blustery winds, rain and rough seas. However, the Western Isles will escape the worst of the “significant” storm set to hit England this weekend. The eye of the deepening storm is predicted to pass over the islands on Sunday bringing winds gusting around 40mph. It will remain very blustery in South Uist and Barra into Sunday night. The same intense low pressure system is due to create a “significant” storm in England on Sunday. Forecasters warn winds up to 80mph will hit quite widely across the southern half of the UK and could bring down trees, cause structural damage, transport disruption, flooding and power cuts.
