FATAL ACCIDENT IN WEST WARREN About 6:00 p.m. tonight, a fatal traffic accident occurred on west 12th Street at 6700 W. 900 S. A 56 year-old man from West Warren was traveling eastbound on 900 South on a farm tractor that was pulling a flatbed trailer. It is estimated he was doing about 5-10 mph as he was going to go feed some neighbor’s livestock. There were no lights on the tractor or the trailer. A 33 year-old male was driving a pick-up truck eastbound and never saw the tractor and trailer. The truck collided into the rear of the trailer, causing the tractor and trailer to flip off the side of the road. The tractor rolled on top of driver, killing him instantly. The pick-up rolled three times down the middle of the roadway, coming to rest upright. Remarkably, the driver was uninjured. It is estimated the truck was traveling around the posted speed limit of 50 mph. WCSO deputies and Utah Highway Patrol troopers were on scene for nearly five hours investigating this tragic accident. 900 South was closed down between 6700 West to 5900 West, and didnt open back up until 10:40 p.m. 900 South is a major thoroughfare to the western half of Weber County. It is a dark, narrow, two-lane road that leads to several businesses near Little Mountain. The area is sparsely populated, but the road is heavily traveled through primarily rural, farm country. The cause of this accident is still under investigation but it appears the lack of proper lighting on the tractor and trailer were the main contributing factors that led to this crash, with the driver of the truck never seeing the equipment in front of him. Our hearts and prayers go out to the families involved in this very tight-knit community.
