FBF!!!! Comedian Soupy Sales had an afternoon radio show on WNBC AM in New York, in between Don Imus & Howard Stern during the mid 80s. Sometimes he would hold contests where you would call in with a talent & win a prize, similar to Star Search. In November 1985, I called in to sing & play an original love song called Life Is Meant To Be Shared. Pandemonium soon followed as you can hear! The phone connection was very bad & they couldnt make out what I was saying. I tried to tell them that I had just graduated from Hicksville High School & was working at the local Sears as a salesman in the Catalog Department. Then when it came time to play, everything went wrong!!! I put the phone receiver down (before the days of cordless) to play & sing into it & just as I started, the receiver wire snapped like a rubber band & flung the receiver across the room, but they dont know that. I put it down & it did it a SECOND time, so now my nerves are completely shot! I finally start to play, my guitar is too loud & Im trying to scream over it & sing very out of tune because of it, & the song is way too long for the contest, so they start having fun with it, singing & playing badly over it, which I didnt know until afterward! LOL! The producer of the show warned me afterward & said please be a good sport about it, which was fine. I lost the contest to someone who wrote a poem about the NY Mets, BUT I did win 6 pounds of spaghetti so all in all, a good day! :) https://youtube/watch?v=lILXbHV6H9U
