FEAR OF EBOLA: Private Schools Demand Students’ Medical Certificate On Resumption The President of National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Dr. Jibril Muhammad has said that medical certificate on the Ebola virus would be demanded from students when schools resume on Sept.22. The NAPPS president said the decision was taken during their meeting on the new resumption date fixed by the federal government, according to report from Daily trust Addressing newsmen he said: “In a situation whereby a parent cannot comply, school authorities will undertake the medical examination to be paid for by the parent at his or her own convenient time,” he said. Urging parents to comply with the directive, he said the measure was in the best interest of all stakeholders in the education sector. He faulted the call by Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) for the extension of the resumption date, describing it as a deliberate attempt to disrupt education in the country. Meanwhile, the Kano State government has faulted the demand for medical certificates from students by the state’s chapter of the association asking the association to discard it. “This is not the agreement reached between the state government and proprietors of private schools. We have not given them the permission to take such measure. We will not agree with the demand at all,” the state Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Abubakar Nuhu Danburam, said.
