FEATI University’s College of Maritime Education Passes CHED/MARINA OBMI Audit, Receives Recertification to ISO 9001:2008 and Bids Safe Voyage to Ship-bound Cadets The University’s College of Maritime Education (CME) recently went through a two-day exigent verification for re-certification of CHED/MARINA/PRC using the Outcome-Based Teaching and Learning (OBTL) instrument. This verification process is part of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) mandated by the government’s regulatory bodies for Maritime Higher Education Institution (MHEI). CME passed the audit owing to its status as a Level II PACU-COA accreditation. In the audits closing meeting PRC examiners CE Mike Marasigan and Capt. Romeo Abuyuan recognizes the Universitys effort in shaping its Maritime education programs acknowledging its outcome towards nation building. According to CME Dean Engr. Edmon S. Aloc, “Our Maritime Education programs breezed through the audit unscathed. It helps that we are a candidate for Level II PACU-COA accreditation. There were minor non-conformities and observations which we can address in no time. Overall, the audit was favorable for us. This also means that our compliance is consistent with the requirements of the EMSA under the European Commission. CME also continuously improves learning delivery capabilities by procuring high-end simulators. We will take this very welcome development to further benefit our students.” The college is also brimming with cadets disembarking from a year of sea duty in addition to the constant influx of cadets enrolling in SBT I and II preceding shipboard deployment. CME is happy to welcome Cdt. Carl Olivar who finished his sea duty on board Dohle-Philman. As cadets are returning to CME, there are also those who are off to complete one year at sea. Good Luck, fair winds, and safe voyage to Cdts. Rosco Abengonza (CrewCare), Michael River (2GO), Jon Reginaldo (Reinier Pacific), Jesmar Rafallo (AutoCirculo), Mc-Rio Del Carmen (Bouvet Shipping), Amosdar Garcia (Baliwag Maritime), Derick Mestio (Dalisay shipping), James Bautista (Reinier Pacific), Frankie Lazo (Reinier Pacific), Isidro Torayno (Reinier), John Acedo (Status Maritime), Heart Baylon (Reinier Pacific), Melvin Besi (Reinier Pacific), Jesus Lagrad (Robles Shipping), Nathaniel Manzano (Robles Shipping), Michael Millare (Marlow Navigation), Michael Millondaga (PhilsSpan Sea Carrier), and John Kevin Dimaandal (Rickmers Marin Agency). CME awaits their triumphant return to FEATI University. (AMD) Congrats FEATI College of Maritime Education!
