FRAN ----------- Rangers Claim Police Investigating Disputed Charles Green Signature Published November 14, 2013 Police are investigating whether disgraced Scottish League 1 Rangers Owner Craig Whyte forged former Owner Charles Green’s signature in the clubs takeover, according to Mark McGivern The club denied Whyte still had links to the club but confirmed a probe by Police Scotland Economic Crimes Unit. They said that detectives are analysing a disputed Green signature on a document which appears to appoint Whyte as a director of Sevco 5088 Limited, a company set up to take control of Ibrox. A handwriting expert compared several genuine signatures by Green, pictured left, with the one on the Sevco document. Expert Margaret Webb, a certified document examiner, said, “The signature (on the Sevco document) has probably not been signed by the same person as the preceding signatures. It looks very similar but there are small hooks on the beginning and ends on many of the long up and down strokes in the questioned signature which are not in the known signatures” . The SCOTSMAN reported Rangers have reiterated that former owner Whyte -- who was at the helm when the club went into administration in 12 -- has no links to the current company and moved to quash suggestions that the club’s Scottish FA membership could be withdrawn. A statement said, “Incorrect stories concerning the company have appeared in the media concerning allegations that Craig Whyte still has links to Rangers, which the company would like to clarify.
