FRENZY was Alfred Hitchcocks only post-PSYCHO film about a multiple murderer. We all know what a sly, subtle jokester Hitchcock could be and heres a tiny but little-known example. When actor Michael Caine angered Hitchcock by turning down the directors offer to star in FRENZY as Robert Rusk, Hitchcock instead cast Barry Foster, a fine stage and film actor who bore a more than passing resemblance to Caine. But, not content to leave it there, Hitchcock carried his light-hearted revenge one step beyond as shown in these images of Caine in ALFIE (1966) and Foster in FRENZY (1972). He not only scored a sly dig at Caine but, more importantly, made a wonderful statement about the character of Rusk.
