FROM THE NEWSROOM: An arrest today was made following a fatal hit and run in Plainfield from last year; 29-year-old Dayville resident Nathan Carcieri of Soap Street was arrested around 11 am this morning by Plainfield Police with the assistance from the Waterford Police Department while Carcieri was working at his job in the town of Waterford. Carcieri was transported to the Plainfield Police Department where he was charged with Negligent Homicide with a Motor Vehicle, Felony Evading Responsibility, and Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle. Nathan was held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Danielson Superior Court on February 5, 2014, Plainfield Police say. The arrest stems from a vehicle vs pedestrian crash back on June 10, 2013 at approximately 11:20 P.M. on School Street in the Central Village section of Plainfield. The pedestrian, Robert Johnson of Main Street, Central Village, was subsequently killed. The operator of the vehicle failed to render assistance and fled the scene. Several days later, the vehicle, a 1997 Isuzu Trooper, was located at a residence in Rhode Island where it was seized by the Plainfield Police.
