FROM THE NEWSROOM: BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut man has pleaded guilty in connection with a Bridgeport shootout that injured a 3-year-old girl who was walking home with her mother. Authorities say 22-year-old Anthony Small was the target of a gang-related shooting in April 2012 and returned fire at the suspects while running toward the girl and her mother. The suspects who fired at Small shot the girl in the back. She survived and needed several surgeries. The Connecticut Post reports Small pleaded guilty to risk of injury to a minor and possessing a pistol without a permit Tuesday in Bridgeport Superior Court. He is to be sentenced to six years in prison March 28. The other shooters remain at large. Police say Small refuses to name them, despite the fact they killed his brother.
