Far too often, spirituality has been replaced with standardization, and discovering the unique divine image within each person is replaced with a version of discipleship from the Industrial Revolution. I have met many people whose search for God ended in disappointment when they found themselves losing their humanity rather than discovering what it means to be fully human. (Erwin McManus, The Artisan Soul) ~ How much of discipleship/spiritual journey has become a matter of checking off a religious to-do list or simply a filling in the blank with right answers rather than an authentic living out of our truest most beautiful selves in love, grace, and mercy?
