February 28, 2014 A Significant Life “Jesus looked at him and loved him. ‘One thing you lack,’ he said. ‘Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.’” Mark 10:21 Do you ever read about men and women who have done acts of momentous significance and wish you could be like them? We read of people like Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, the first man to ever orbit the earth, or Mother Theresa, the saint of Calcutta. Perhaps we admire figures such as Sir Edmund Hillary, the first man to scale the heights of Mt. Everest, or Clara Barton, founder of the American Red Cross. If you could save one child from starvation, would that be significant enough for you? How about a whole family? In Sudan, in Haiti and in Guatemala, millions are starving. Children are dying from lack of medical care. They wait for people just like you to care. You could become the most significant person in their lives. You could save the lives of so many men, women and children with what might seem to many Americans like a small gift. Allow your aspirations for significance to make a life-determining impact on these people.
