Feeling overwhelmed by contests yet? As I said earlier, it isnt often that we have the number of contests we currently have going all at once. Whats particularly unusual this time around is that there are TWO entries we can vote for in one contest. I do believe this is the first time that has happened since Minot and Joplin helped each other out in the Coca Cola contest in 2011 and 2012 and the Readers Digest contest. I dont think weve ever had 2 entries in 2 contests at the same time! As we move further and further away from the ending of the Coca Cola contest, it becomes more and more difficult to win these contests because the excitement understandably fades. During the Coke contest, there were thousands of people voting and sharing the link. At one point the talking about this on this page was 1,000 to 2,000 people per day. Now, we fluctuate between 100 and 250. (This is how many people fb says we are reaching.) In addition, a lot of the pages that promoted the Coke contest do not continue to promote the smaller contests, or they have disappeared entirely. We are a very small group as facebook pages go, but the people here have proven to be very dedicated and continue to amaze us. Last I checked, we had helped raise more than $512,000 from contests alone. Although we had hoped to raise $10,000 for Moore in the Animal Shelter contest, we simply arent big enough to compete nationally without the kind of support that Moore had in the Coke contest. You ALL know the amount of effort and the number of voters that took! We are grateful that you all hung with us in the Shelter Challenge so that Moore will at least receive the $1,000 state prize. (Whether we do this contest again remains to be seen because it is a notoriously long contest and the results are pretty predictable.) We do what we can, when we can, where we can, but we truly do rely on all of you to make a difference! You do that one vote, one like, and one share at a time. This page has grown tremendously over the past few months and we hope it continues to do so with your help. Imagine what we could do then! Thank you for putting up with the voting reminders even when they DO seem overwhelming. I joked around during the 2011 Coke contest that I hoped to some day be able to type in the word Oakaholics and not have the little red squiggle appear under it indicating a spelling error. Alas, were not there yet. So, onward and upward! :D
