Fifth grade artists learned about the art movement of Futurism. Futurism started in the early 1900s as technology was starting to make life move faster and faster. Autos, planes, trains, motorcycles...speed of movement inspired artists, poets, and musicians of the time. Students are creating images which show movement of figures. They are tracing layers of figures in watercolor pencil inspired by Futurism art pieces. Students created the movable figures in host nation with Frau Bretfeld as they learned German words for parts of the body. They will also learn a little about the Futurism movement in music with Ms. Mazelis. Great collaboration across the curriculum!!!
