Finally-- a Kai update!!!! Last night he kept his nurse and team of doctors hopping!! He is currently on a cooling blanket to bring his temp and heart rate down, his low blood pressure meds have been decreased (things are more stable in this area today- still a few dips in b/p but not near as bad as last night), and also has a pleural effusion (fluid building up around his right lung), as well as his heart rate occasionally jumping in and out of different rhythms. So yes-- he is still a sick little guy, but stable. Todays goals/ plans are to A) insert another chest tube to drain the fluid around his lung (currently setting up for this procedure as I write) B) allow his body to recover, remain stable as well as remain calm and sedated for the day as his body gets used to this new valve. KEep the prayers coming!!
