Finally done the 3rd part of NWT deception, without losing it - TopicsExpress

Finally done the 3rd part of NWT deception, without losing it again! NWT deception. Part 3. What do reliable Greek scholars really think of the NWT? It is interesting to note that no Greek scholar with any credentials will endorse the New World Translation. Bill Cetnar, in 1954 (While still a Jehovahs Witness working at Bethel), was assigned to interview a well known Bible translator, Dr. Edgar J. Goodspeed, asking him for his evaluation and recommendation of the NWT. Dr. Goodspeed replied; No, Im afraid that I could not do that. The grammar is regrettable... We would like every JW to question whether they could put their trust in a translation that has been rejected recommendation by one of the leading Greek Scholars! In fact, he is not alone. We list other eminent scholars and what they said about the NWT, particularly about the WTS translation of John 1 v 1: Dr. J. R. Mantey (who is quoted on pages 1158-1159 of the Witnesses own Kingdom Interlinear Translation); says of their translation of John 1 v 1, which is the foundation of all Christian doctrine...that is...that Jesus Christ is God... A shocking mistranslation. Obsolete and incorrect. It is neither scholarly nor reasonable to translate John 1 v 1 The Word was a god. Dr. Bruce M. Metzger of Princeton (Professor of New Testament Language and Literature); A frightful mistranslation. Erroneous and pernicious, reprehensible. If the Jehovahs Witnesses take this translation seriously, they are polytheists. Dr. Walter R. Martin (who does not teach Greek but has studied the language); The translation....a god instead of God is erroneous and unsupported by any good Greek scholarship, ancient or contemperary and is a translation rejected by all recognised scholars of the Greek language many of whom are not even Christians, and cannot fairly be said to be biased in favour of the orthodox contention. Dr. F. F. Bruce of the University of Manchester, England: Much is made by Arian amateur grammarians of the omissin of the definite article with God in the phrase And the Word was God. Such an omission is common with nouns in a predicative construction....a god would be totally indefendible. (Barclay and Bruce are generally regarded as Great Britains leading Greek scholars. Both have New Testaments in print!) We could quote more, such as: Dr. William Barclay of the University of Glasgow, Scotland. Dr. Samuel J. Mikolaski of Zurich, Switzwerland. Dr. Paul L. Kaufman of Portland, Oregon. Dr. Charles L. Feinberg of La Mitada, California. Dr. B. F. Westcott (whose Greek text...not the English part!...is used in the KIT!) And we can name and quote others. Surfice it to say the NWT is an erroneous and mistranslated version of the Bible! Mr. JW, can you honestly trust your eternal destiny into the hands of men who had no qualifications for translating the Greek and Hebrew and who have been proved to be dishonest and unreliable in bringing you the truth of the scriptures?
