Fire Updates as of Thursday morning: The Highway Fire (Bonsall) is under control and an initial line has been cut around the fire. Crews will continue to be working in the area throughout today and tonight, improving the line and putting out hot spots. There may be periods of smoke and flame inside the fire perimeter today, but that is perfectly normal during this mop up period. The Tomahawk Fire (Camp Pendleton) is mostly under control. There is significant mop up work to do and a lot of open line on the perimeter. There will be flareups of smoke and flame from the fire and we continue to monitor the situation, but we believe that the worst is past. A Type 1 Incident Management Team will take responsibility for the fire today. We have no updates on fires outside our jurisdiction (Fallbrook, Bonsall, Rainbow). Suggest the Ready San Diego website or local media for information on other fires. All of our fire stations are fully staffed and we are doing business as usual.
