First early planting of corn harvested, shucked, scrapped and put - TopicsExpress

First early planting of corn harvested, shucked, scrapped and put up and 2nd planting just starting to silk. Wheat was totally overtaken by grass so looks like that experiment failed. Not sure how our ancestors did it or maybe they just didnt get a lot when harvesting. Have a good amount of blackberries put up and made a few cobblers. Mom says I have to stop making them as often since they are so good. Last one I did was a blackberry and blueberry cobbler mixed that Ill call my Black and Blue Cobbler. Its basically the Cuppa Cobbler recipe and very good. Black and Blue Cobbler 1 cup ea of Flour, Sugar and Milk mixed together. (Why its called a Cuppa Cobbler, easy to remember measurements) 1 stick Butter (melted) (thats a quarter pound or 8 Tbsp for my friends across the pond) 1/4 to 1/2 cup fresh Blackberries or thawed frozen. 1 3/4 to 1 1/2 cups fresh Blueberries or thawed frozen. 1/4 cup Sugar (to sprinkle on top) You can use 2 cups or a little more of any berries or combination of them to add up to 2 cups. I fill my 2 cup pyrex measuring cup to the top myself. I find about a 1/4 cup or so of Blackberries is good enough to flavour the cobbler while reducing the amount of seeds that a lot of people dont like and still lets the Blueberry flavour come through also. You can use about any fruit. Its also good made with Peaches. Mix Flour and Sugar together and stir into the Milk. Use the stick of butter to grease your 9x9 baking dish and then melt the rest and stir into the mixture. Pour mixture into the dish. Evenly pour the berries into the mixture. Do NOT stir them in. Sprinkle the 1/4 cup sugar evenly on top. Place in Preheated 350 degree F (thats about 175 degree C) and bake for an hour. You can top it with something (Whip cream, Ice Cream or whatever) or leave it plain. Its good hot, room temp or cold equally well (if it lasts long enough to go in a fridge lol)
