First of all, this is a terrible picture of this quilt top (and it has pieces of green tape on it...sorry, its all I have on my phone.) :-) It looks a lot better after adding a border and being quilted. Anyway, I made quilts for all my kids, grandkids, great grandkids for Christmas. I asked my sons if they had any preferences for colors or anything that could guide me towards something they would like. Mostly they gave me stupid answers, so I just did the best I could. I made this quilt out of some third-hand fabric someone gave my sister. He loves nature, so I thought it might work. After I got it pieced (pattern is Turning Twenty...HUGE blocks), I hated it, but I was committed that this was his quilt. Then he started telling me how much he really likes traditional quilts. WTH?? So, fast forward to Christmas morning; I crossed my fingers and gave him his quilt. He looked at it, turned it over and looked at the back. (I quilted it using a meandering design.) He LOVED it! I told him I was afraid he wouldnt like it because it isnt a traditional looking quilt. He told me that of all the quilts I gave, he thinks his is the best, and he loves it because I made it. Best. Christmas. Ever! Everyone loved their quilts.
