Flip the Grip Demo! Work up to King Pigeon pose through your Pigeon practice. Here I demo how to grasp your foot and to safely rotate your shoulder from classic one leg Pigeon, into Mermaid, then into Eka Pada Rajakapotasana, then for fun, added another flip grip into Monkey Pose or Hanumanasana (splits variation). This is where it all got tippy :/ Benefits of these poses, are to open your hips, provide superior abdominal stretching, activate sluggish digestion, and will strengthen your entire back. Adding grip flips, you will loosen tight shoulders. When your neck is extended back to meet your foot, your chest is wide open, thus activating your Thymus gland & opening your heart chakra. This sequence starts out beginner, and ends with deep back bending. Be sure to work up to this safely and slowly. Stop at mermaid and enjoy your new progress while focusing on your breathing, until you feel its time to flip the grip. Recovery in back bends is essential! Take time to stay in a deep forward fold (chest to legs) or Childs Pose to rest your hardworking spine. Grip flips are also a preferred entry into full Bow & Dancers Pose.
