Following Senator Pat Roberts powerful, confident and triumphant debate with Greg Orman yesterday, even my own husband said over dinner last night, Where has THAT Pat Roberts been all along? Ill tell you where - right here! ...waiting for the General Election. Senator Pat Roberts is a Reagan Republican whose ethical standards fall in line with Reagans two famous beliefs: 1) The Eleventh Commandment: Thou shalt not speak ill of any Republican; and 2) Someone who agrees with you 80% of the time is an 80% friend, not a 20% enemy. His primary opponents campaign was largely directed personally against him, rather than Republican political ideology, and to publicly refute those issues, Senator Roberts would have had to break the 11th Commandment. His principles would not permit that. Now in the General Election, Senator Roberts can debate, highlight, and defend the Republican ideology we all hold dear - against a Democratic candidate masquerading as an Independent. So yes indeed, yesterday Roberts came out swinging - back in the saddle in which hes most comfortable - debating the enemy; not his 80% friend.....
