Folábí Ògúnléye > The very vestiges of our Old Brigade - TopicsExpress

Folábí Ògúnléye > The very vestiges of our Old Brigade foisted on the long- suffering peoples of Nigeria a sick puppet in Umaru Muss YarAdua, to be assisted by a, timid, barely exposed Doctor of Zoology by the name Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, who later emerged president after his superior expired in power, as expected where you place the burden of governing a rambunctious nation of 160+ million on the shoulders of someone with YarAduas kind of health challenges. Since then, the incompetent has succeeded the infirmed, and, as expected, the result of governing the federal republic isnt anything to write home about. The deep calls only unto to deep, they say. Unfortunately, those who called on the YarAdua- Jonath an combo lacked depth and vision, even after 8 years in power, to sufficiently groom a worthy successor. To help them find a successor, then-Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti was commissioned to help vet a candidate sufficient for the post of president and commander-in-ch ief of Nigeria[!] Of course Fayoses Court in Ekiti became a Mecca for all sorts of political jobbers - that was before a garrulous Baba fell out with his thuggish son, Fayose. The rest is history. And here we are, in 2014, with the remnants of the last bastions of executive recklessness that a retired Owu General hand-picked and gifted Nigeria in 2007. Here we are, re- writing history and living in denial of the truth that the offspring of a hyena is no different from the hyena itself. No, there is no honor among thieves. Hence the petty squabbles over ego and privileges between Baba and his Political Children - all at the expense of our collective inheritance in the land of our fathers. No matter how hard we try, we cannot successfully deny the fact that Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Mainasara Jonathan is every bit a beneficiary and product of the Old Guard of Meddling Generals who garrulously lorded over the affairs of Nigeria for the better part of the countrys independence! To deny this is to be the Ostrich who purports to hide by burying its head in the sand while its ass remained in plain sight. If we must argue about vestiges of military overlordism, let us remember Jonathans Hatchet Man in the Senate, the retired Major General David Bonaventure Mark. Or is he Jonathans chaperon gan sef. Yeah, remember him. So much for ridding the Nigerian democracy of the vestiges of the Old Brigade, when the truth is that the Current Order as superintended by Goodluck Jonathan only gets to ascend to power and remain in power at the instance of the same old Old Brigade. If we must make excuses for why Muhammadu Buhari cannot be president, lets find real, unimpeachable reasons - not these pithy excuses that are nothing more than ethnic and religious insecurities masked in garbs of reason - garbs of reason that continue to be exposed for what they are, even as Nigerians are waking up to repeated lies that continue to die like flies when confronted with the shelltox of truth! Sai Buhari! Lol. CC: Ladi Owolabi. Ilsa Aida Dayo Ògún Dayo Williams Abiola Abiola Abe Oke
