For all of my NON-Law Enforcement Friends... this is why we kill people who advance at us with knives. Job one is for us to go home at the end of the shift. You can achieve this too as long as you do NOT come at us with a knife, gun or in a threatening manner. We are trained...a lot... to make split decisions in life threatening circumstances. We will always protect ourselves, because if we do NOT, we can not protect others who will be impacted by a specific threat. With all that is going on in todays world, please remember this. I have been shot at, I have been struck, I have wrestled many many badasses into handcuffs. I have suffered a shoulder dislocation, bruised internal organs and many bruises and contusions. I served 35 years and made it out in one piece... almost. Never think that because we laugh and joke that we are not deeply impacted by the job we do. I never had to take a life, some of my friends were not that lucky. I pray for them daily, it is a heavy burden for your soul to bear. Just because you see us screaming and bristled up in a serious situation, does not mean we are assholes, it simply means we are absolutely on point for anything that can happen, and believe me... anything CAN happen and DOES. God Bless this man for stopping the threat and surviving the ordeal. God Bless my Brothers and sisters who have been forced to take a life in the line of duty, you are always in my heart and my prayers. Lastly, God Bless all who have fallen in the line of duty. We miss you and long to hear the laughter just one more time. Not all cops are good, granted... but I can assure you the VAST majority of them are excellent human beings and some of the best cops in the world, I have worked along side of. Thank each of you for all that you do to make our community safe.
