For everyone that has been praying for us and Keelee, Thank you so much!!! For those that dont know, we brought Keelee home on July 4, 2014 at just over 6 months old! She is still on a feeding pump, but has progressed from 24 hours a day on the pump, to 16 hours a day on it and is able to have bottles, rice cereal and home made baby food. Keelee has gained so much weight and done so well at home! Bringing her home was my biggest relief and my biggest fear! I had no idea what to do, if the house would be clean enough, if she would stay well with her weak immune system, etc., etc.. Sarah told me those are just first time parent fears and she was probably right lol. When Sarah and I first found out Keelee wasnt going to come out perfect, I wad devastated. I was angry, confused, worried and a mix of more emotions than I even knew existed! But now, feeding my daughter through a button in her stomach, having to carry medical supplies everywhere and so many of the abnormal things we do regarding Keelee seem completely normal and second nature. I was crushed at the selfish thought that I would be ashamed of having a special needs child, but that little girl has this daddy wrapped around her finger so tight and I couldnt be more proud of my little fighter! God has blessed Sarah and I with the mostly mandatory opportunity to grow in Him and have faith in something we had no control over. The hardest thing I have ever had to do is admit to myself that I was not in control and convince myself to have full faith in God! That in itself, is the smartest decision I have ever made! Upon realizing that Keelee is almost 8 months old now, part of me thinks Woah! Shes almost a year old ALREADY!!!! And part of me looks back over the last year and all we have been through and I think Wow, we have been through this much and come this far in only a year??? Its funny how life works when you let God have control. Have a blessed and happy week!
