For those not interested in watching all the festivities leading up to the Super Bowl this Sunday which features the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots, there are several new movies opening Jan. 30 that you might want to check out. In “Black or White” Kevin Costner plays a grandfather whose family suffers some tragic events and he must now take care of his bi-racial granddaughter. “Black or White” also stars Anthony Mackie, Octavia Spencer (“Get on Up”) and the adorable and up and coming young actress Jillian Estell. Black Sea stars Jude Law as a submarine captain who takes a job with a questionable backer to search for a sunken submarine rumored to be filled with gold. Ben Mendelsohn also stars. What happens when a group of teens discover secret plans of a time machine and decide to build one? More than they can handle in the new adventure film “Project Almanac” starring Jonny Weston, Sofia Black, DElia, Sam Lerner, Allen Evangelista and Virginia Gardner. “A Most Violent Year” is a crime thriller featuring Oscar Isaac, Jessica Chastain, Albert Brooks and “Selma’s David Oyelowo. | In “The Loft,” a group of young, married men (James Marsden, Wentworth Miller and Karl Urban) decide to rent a swanky penthouse to entertain their girlfriends. Things start out fun, but turn tragic when they find a dead body of an unknown woman in their place. Now everyone is a suspect. And last but not least, is “Mr. Turner” a film about eccentric, British painter J.M.W. Turners life. I’ll have reviews of all these movies at N2Entertainment.net on Jan. 30. And don’t forget to listen to my movie review segment on the Kitty O’Neal show every Friday at 6:40 p.m. on KFBK 1530 AM and 93.1 FM. Cartoon Illustrations Provided By: Alien Ink.
